CAP Money Course – 7 Jan 2013

A recent BBC News story said:

A majority of consumers spent less on their Christmas shopping this year than they did in 2011, according to a survey by the consumers’ association Which? Nearly half used credit cards, overdrafts and other borrowing to help fund their purchases… the average amount put on credit was £301.

Well, there’s a solution to this problem – the CAP Money system. This helps you plan a budget and stick to it, and includes saving up for Christmas, birthdays, etc. so that when they come along you don’t have to go into debt. We’ve been running the course, which was created by Christians Against Poverty, for a couple of years now at Sidley Baptist Church, and the next opportunity to come along and learn a tried and tested system of money management is 7:30pm on Monday 7 Jan 2013.

If you’d like to come, just go to the CAP Money website and register for the upcoming course. Please share this with your friends, as you never know who might be secretly struggling with their finances…

New Youth event

On the second and fourth Sunday of every month, there is an opportunity for those of secondary school age to join together and have lots of fun! Meeting for two hours from 6pm, we will be having board game tournaments, eating chocolate and enjoying a time of chatter. The idea is for young people to enjoy a time of friendship, fellowship and to be taught as the Holy Spirit leads us. Starting 13th January 2013, this group is for anyone, whether they are involved in church or not, to have a laugh and socialise. Contact the church office for more information.

p.s. we don’t have a name for this group yet, as we want the young people who join to choose it themselves.
